BACKGROUND: the University Of
Pennsylvania School Of Medicine granted Dr. Galbut his
medical degree, and he completed his residency in
cardiovascular/thoracic surgery at Harvard, Columbia
Presbyterian Medical Center and the University of
Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Galbut has been
in private practice since 1981.
HONORS/CREDENTIALS: He not only
helped built the Miami Heart Institute, but he has also
contributed to the research of open-heart surgery with
internal mammary arteries in more than 30 studies. The
doctor is board certified in cardiac and thoracic surgery.
INTERESTS & INTERESTING TIDBITS:
Throughout his nearly quarter-of-a-century long career,
Dr. Galbut has performed more than 4,000 heart surgeries and
has participated in an additional 4,000. Altogether, he has
performed surgery on about 10,000 patients from all over the
world. Dr. Galbut also leads cardiothoracic services at
South Miami Heart Center and has a special interest in
women’s heart surgery.
ABOUT THE HOSPITAL: Since the
hospital was established nearly 40 years ago, cardiac
services have been among the longest running services
offered. South Miami provides a full range of services for
patients with a variety of cardiac diseases, No only does
the hospital diagnose and treat cardiac disease, but
representatives claim it is dedicated to promoting wellness
and education to the community.
